Goodyear's Engineering Career Day (ECD) will be held on Saturday, April 12 at The University of Akron.
The event will take place from 8:00am to 2:30pm.

Registration for this FREE event will open on January 15, and will close when we reach capacity of 2,000 students, or on March 15, 2014.

What will I get to do at ECD?

Students will get to try their hand at various engineering tasks led by representatives from over 50 local businesses and universities. A large group hands-on activity will challenge students to apply their engineering talents to the solution of problem, while working together as a team. Attendees also get a free lunch and t-shirt for their participation in the event. A schedule can be viewed here. Parents who would like to attend this event with their student are more than welcome to do so. Campus tour and financial aid sessions will be offered to parents, guardians and teachers who attend.

Who can participate in this FREE event?

Goodyear welcomes any young men and young women enrolled in grades six through 12 to participate in this free event. Teachers, parents and guardians are welcome to accompany their students to the event as well. The event is FREE
to all.

PLEASE NOTE: Students MUST bring a signed, printed copy of the Consent and Release Form to Engineering Career Day 2014 in order to be allowed to participate. Individual registrants will be assigned to a group with the students age in mind. He or she will walk through the day with this group and will participate in all hands-on engineering challenges, interactive activity sessions and lunch with this group. Groups will be limited in size to 30 students. Individuals are not eligible to win any grant money. High school seniors who apply for one of Goodyear's Engineering Career Day scholarships are eligible to win said scholarship whether registered as part of a group or as an individual. Parents and guardians are welcome to accompany their student and his or her group as they rotate through the various parts of the day.

Groups that register will walk through the day together and will participate in all hands-on engineering challenges, interactive activity sessions and lunch. Goodyear will make every effort to keep those that register as a group together. Due to group size, some groups may be split to accommodate the 30 person group size limit. Middle school groups (grades 6-8) are eligible to win one of five $500 scholarships offered at the event. High school groups (grades 9-12) are eligible to win up to $7,500 in grant money for the promotion of STEM education in their school system.

All individuals and groups who submit applications for monetary awards must be present at the event to receive the award if chosen.
