SUBJECT:    Winter Tire Applications for Law Enforcement and Emergency Vehicles

Due to the unique nature and operation of Law Enforcement and Emergency vehicles, it is essential that winter tires, including studded winter tires, be applied to all four wheel positions.

The purpose of installing winter tires on a vehicle is to gain optimum traction, handling and stability when driving on snow. The placement of winter tires in all wheel positions will keep the handling characteristics of the vehicle more evenly balanced than using a mix of Winter Tire and All Season tread designs.

Make certain that only tires with the correct speed rating and load carrying capacity be chosen for each individual vehicle application.
