Commitment to quality

To help us strengthen our brand and continue to be a leader in the
marketplace, Goodyear introduced its Global Quality Initiative in 2003. It’s our commitment to spend over $150 million to raise customer satisfaction to a level consistent with premium products.

Most of the Goodyear investment is being geared toward automated state-of-the-art inspection equipment to help assure that Goodyear products meet strict quality standards. By the end of 2006, 100 percent of the tire plants in Goodyear’s Asia-Pacific region were fully equipped to check force variation and balance. Tire plants in North America have been equipped to check for variation on 100 percent of its products since December 2005, and expect to be checking balance on 100 percent of its products by the end of 2007.

Helping to ensure qualityGoodyear recognizes its commitment to quality is only as good as the people dedicated to carrying it out. Throughout the world, Goodyear associates devise innovative solutions to help ensure product quality. In Union City, Tennessee, associates made a commitment to eliminate original equipment (OE) returns and improve customer service to OE customers. In 2006, two years after implementing its system, Union City associates delivered almost five million tires to OE customers with none returned.
