Executive Leadership
Mark Purtilar joined The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company as Vice President and Chief Procurement Officer on September 17, 2007. In this position, he will oversee Goodyear's global procurement strategy and be responsible for the company's approximately $10 billion in annual purchases.
Purtilar previously had been Vice President of Global Procurement for ArvinMeritor Automotive's Commercial Vehicle Systems division.
Purtilar first joined ArvinMeritor in 1994 as Manager of Purchasing and Inventory Planning. He was named Manager, International Business Development in 1995 and Director of International Sales and Marketing, Commercial Vehicle Aftermarket in 1996. He served as Managing Director, Commercial Vehicle Aftermarket for Europe and Africa from 1997 to 2000. He was named Vice President and General Manager of the Americas Commercial Vehicle Aftermarket Distributions division in 2000.
He left ArvinMeritor in 2002 to serve as Chief Executive Officer of Auto Body Panels Inc. in Cincinnati, Ohio. He returned to ArvinMeritor in 2004 as Vice President of Global Procurement.
Prior to ArvinMeritor, Purtilar worked for the Sara Lee Corporation, which he joined in 1983 as a Plant Maintenance Supervisor and Purchasing Agent. He was named Manager of Purchasing in 1987. Purtilar later held management positions in Business Development as well as Production and Capacity Planning.
Purtilar received bachelor's degrees in ancient history, as well as a master of business administration degree in international business from Northern Kentucky University.
Born May 10, 1960 in Covington, Kentucky, Purtilar and his wife, Chesla, have two children and live in Copley, Ohio.
He is a member of the National Association of Purchasing Managers and the American Production and Inventory Control Society.
