AKRON, Ohio, January 11, 2005 - As the redesigned 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee receives accolades for its versatility and style, it does so while riding along on the familiar "soles" of its Goodyear tires, the rubber again being fitted exclusively on all models of the new vehicle.
The new Grand Cherokee recently chalked up another trophy with its selection as "2005 SUV of the Year" by Truckin’s SUV, the enthusiast magazine published by PRIMEDIA Inc. The shootout of six popular SUVs is chronicled in the February 2005 issue of the magazine.
Since SUVs are built for a variety of usage, the honor of winning the award certainly lends credibility to the Grand Cherokee’s reputation as one of the best blends of luxury and off-road capability. According to the magazine, the Grand Cherokee stood out due to its "refined ride, off-road performance, and high-feature content coupled with notable quality, excellent road manners, and a warm and inviting interior."
Depending upon model type, Goodyear supplies three different tire lines for the 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee – the Goodyear Wrangler SR-A, Wrangler HP and Eagle LS.
The Goodyear Wrangler SR-A, available in 13 sizes ranging from 16- to 18-inch rim diameters, features an aggressive tread pattern for excellent on/off-road traction without sacrificing a smooth, quiet ride. The Wrangler HP features high-performance handling and tough all-season traction. Qualities of the Eagle LS include a high-performance "touring" feel with a smooth, disturbance-free ride.
For the Grand Cherokee Limited model with a 5.7-liter Hemi engine, which was tested by the editors of Truckin’s SUV, the Wrangler SR-A tires lived up to their billing. Showing a perfect match of performance features with the vehicle itself, the tire’s qualities mirror those referenced in the magazine review of the Grand Cherokee. "Still awesome in the dirt, and much refined over the pavement," is the reaction of the editors at Truckin’s SUV.
Goodyear tires are original equipment on many vehicles from Acura, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Dodge, Ford, GMC, Honda, Hummer, Infiniti, Isuzu, Jeep, Land Rover, Lexus, Mazda, Mercury, Nissan and Toyota. Traditionally, more new vehicles in North America are equipped with Goodyear tires than any other brand.
