AKRON, Ohio, Nov.15 - Goodyear is introducing a series of larger-sized radial tires to accommodate the demands of high-powered tractors that are increasingly in use on today's farms.

The new sizes are in the DT820 and DT830 lines of R-1W tires, which are designed for maximum performance in heavy, wet soils.

"Farmers are using larger, high-horsepower tractors to reduce the time they spend per acre. However, these tractors run a greater risk of power hop and increased soil compaction. In response, we designed a larger tire that can be run at lower pressures, which has been proven to reduce power hop and decrease soil compaction," said Dave Weed, Goodyear's Applications Engineer for Farm Tires.

The new DT830 size is 900/50R42. With an overall diameter of 76.6 inches and overall width of 34.9 inches, it is capable of handling a 30-mph load of up to 12,300 pounds at 23 psi.

The DT820 line has three new sizes: 800/70R38, 710/70R42 and 620/70R46.

The 800/70R38 size is 81.1 inches in diameter and an impressive 31.4 inches wide, and it is capable of handling a 30-mph load of up to 14,300 pounds at 23 psi. The 710/70R42 is 81.1 inches in diameter, 28.2 inches wide and capable of hauling up to 12,300 pounds at 23 psi at 30 miles per hour. With a diameter of 80.2 inches and a width of 24.6 inches, the 62070R46 is capable of handling a 30-mph load of 10,500 pounds at 23 psi.

The entire line of DT830 and DT820 radial tires features a deep lug tread for self-cleaning action. The high-strength body cords and belt package offer needed casing strength for modern equipment and field conditions.
